FAQs

  1. What is Anveshan?

Anveshan [1] is a competition for university students to develop and showcase their scientific research and innovation.

  1. Is Anveshan a new program?

No. Anveshan was set up by the Association of Indian Universities (“AIU”) – the apex body representing 1000 universities in India – in 2007. It promotes scientific research and scholarship in student communities.  Over the years, Anveshan has emerged as a leading platform to promote and showcase innovative ideas and scholarship within the university community in India.

  1. Is Anveshan a program for students in India only?

No.  AIU has opened up Anveshan to the international student community in 2023. Before 2023, the competition was open only to students enrolled in any one of the more than 1,000 universities from India.

  1. Is Anveshan conducted online, offline or a hybrid program?

Anveshan is a hybrid program. The registration and team formation process is online across all stages. The collaboration, presentation and evaluation of your work is in hybrid mode; you may participate online or in-person at your university (in the first round), at the zonal convention (in the second round) and the international convention (third round). Anveshan is growing its digital (online) presence to extend the opportunity to more students so that they can participate without having to commute to each location.

  1. What are the prizes for the winners?

The top teams from each track will win attractive cash prizes and certificates. In addition, the overall winner (across all tracks) will be awarded a special cash prize and a gold medal. All participants in the final round will win a Certificate. Watch this space for more details.

  1. Is it free to participate? What do I need?

Yes - participation is entirely free in the first and third rounds. All you will need is a computer/ laptop and a half-decent internet connection. For the second round, in-person participants are required to contribute Rs. 500 per head towards their boarding and lodging expenses in the host university.

  1. How do I form my team?

You will have the option to form your team when you register. Simply follow the prompts and select You will be prompted to form your team online after you register. You can form a new team or join an existing one. If you form your own team you will have the option to invite specific peers to join your team (click on view team and then the ‘+’ button and enter their email ids) or open up your team for other people to join in.

  1. How many people can I have in my team?

You can form a team with any 3 other members, i.e. each team can comprise a maximum of 4 people.

  1. Will we get help? What happens if we get stuck?

Of course. You will have lots of support all the way. Even before the competition starts, you will have the opportunity to join a virtual onboarding session (look out for an email invite close to start date) where we will  explain every detail about Anveshan and answer any question you may have. Once the program starts, you will have a mentor to guide your team as well as the opportunity to  join several virtual tutorials or support sessions to clarify any issue. Finally, our team will be on hand to help you if you get stuck; all you need to do is to email us.

  1. I am close with or live with my teammates; do I have to interact on the platform? Can’t we discuss our ideas in real life?

Of course, you can share and discuss ideas offline. At the same time, we encourage you to log all your key ideas on the platform to get the most benefit. This will allow your mentors to see what you are working on and offer proper advice.

  1. Can I resubmit my project after submitting once?

Yes. You can resubmit your project anytime and as many times until the submission deadline. Your output will not be reviewed or evaluated by judges until the deadline has passed.

  1. Who will bear the expenses for attending the National Convention?

All the students will have to bear the respective travel expenses, but the host institution will provide all boarding and logging expenses for the duration of the national convention. Participants who are unable to join will have the option to attend the event virtually.

  1. What if I have more questions?

Please ask away! Simply email your questions to anveshan.aiu@gmail.com and mark the subject title as ‘Anveshan 2026 Student Query’ so that we can get back to you even sooner.

[1] Anveshan is a Hindi word meaning “investigation”.
